Top 10 Paintball Fields in the US

Paintball is a huge sport these days. In every state and even every city you can find a paintball field that can work for you and your crew. There are several types of paintball fields you can find around the United States. They can range from wooded areas, to relatively open fields, to paintball fields decked out with props like fake buildings, old cars, haystack walls, jerry-rigged forts, and whatever else the paintballer mind can conjure up. There are even paintball fields that you don’t even use a gun, you use balloons filled with paint that you throw at each other! This can be most fun for the more “gentle” players. For beginners, this can be an amazing experience to see the amazing feats of paintball heaven they can find.

You may wonder if there is a better field out there for you. There is. Below I have found the top then best paintball fields in the United States. If you are up for a little drive or flight you could have the time of your life at one of these amazing paintball fields!

The first on our list is Skirmish USA. They have 48 different playing field that spread across 700 acres. One of their sites includes a tournament complex as well as a speedball arena. All of their fields include props such as planes, tanks, woods, creeks, villages and castles. They offer many different packages for bachelor and corporate parties.

Second is Old River Paintball, located in Ocklawaha, Florida. It is on 40 acres of land and there are 12 different fields to choose from. They have several games available such as Speedball, Hyperball and Airball. They also have an onsite Air Station to refill your tanks. They have bunkers from trees and bushes to hay bales.

Advanced Alabama Adventures, also known as AAA, come in third on our list. They have been in business since 1989 and are located in Birmingham, Alabama. They have 7 different playing fields and they are always making changes to make your playing experience different. They have tested their fields and changed any field that has been lesser used to make it bigger and better for the paintball players.

In fourth place is Paintball USA. They are located in Cypress, Texas and have over 113 acres and 9 fields. Included are two speedball fields and four wooded fields. Some of the bunkers used are spools, wooden teepees and drums. They also have Scenario games organized there.

Fifth on the list is N5 Paintball, located in McLoud, Oklahoma. The fields they have include two speedball fields, a wooded field and a spool field. They have many happy customers that say the refs and staff are amazing and will make your paintball experience that much more enjoyable.

Staff members that are highly rated and try anything to make your paintball experience enjoyable are located at our number six field. Located in Berwick, Maine, Berwick paintball has 7 acres of outdoor fields, filling stations and Scenario games. They also offer speedball and team games every weekend.

Coming in number seven is Splatmandu Paintball Club in Three Rivers, Michigan. Included is eight different fields maintained by their club members. The great thing about Splatmandu is that they are a non-profit Paintball Club and you will pay an annual membership fee of $2.00. ONLY $2.00! Membership fees go towards props and their “Big Game” every September.

Number eight is located in Plant City, Florida and is called Battlezone and Supply. They have three different playing fields including Hyperball, Airball and an Urban field. This field is knows to be geared more towards the non-competitive player. Their slogan explains it all when they say “Check your ego at the net”.

Splat Paintball in Canal Fulton, Ohio is our number nine choice. The owner is very helpful and knows about the game. You also don’t need to feel intimidated if you are a new player because they serve a mix of experienced and inexperienced players. They have three wooded and three Speedball fields. Their Speedball fields are highly recommended. The downside is that there is quite a walk from your check in point to the actual fields.

Last but not least is The Compound Paintball Field in Ellensburg, Washington. They have two fields. One is a Speedball field and the other is a Rec-Ball field with many bunkers made from various objects like spools and cars. Their speedball field is often visited by tournament players.

These results were put together by a group of frequent experienced paintball players who love the game and travel around to try different fields. Things taken into consideration when deciding this list are reffing, support staff, safety and the maintenance of the fields. Also the skill levels of the players.

Another Interesting Paintball Experience

This is another paintball story. Sorry, as I believe I’ve stated, I don’t play airsoft, but paintball is close enough, and it’s still quite exciting. Anyways, I went to a paintball park with my friend; in fact, it was an event set up by his friend, and I was just “tagging along”. This was the second time this person had organized the event, and it was the second time I’d come, so I’d been there before. We played seven games, but to shorten this (if you recall, the last paintball story I told was incredibly long), I’ll just tell you the first, third, fifth, sixth, and seven. The first is short, as were the fifth and sixth, so don’t worry about length.

Paintball parks

The first game we played in a standard woods field, with these strategically placed shacks, a few trees (it was not a dense forest, one might not even consider it a forest at all), and this large hill in the back. And that was where me and another fellow went. We met two opponents there, and spent five minutes exchanging fire until backup (two more people) arrived (in this area, the forest was a bit dense, so no balls were getting through. I wasn’t firing at all because I knew I couldn’t hit; in fact, I only fired four balls that game). Then, we advanced and someone took out one of the opponents, but there was still the last one left. Knowing he couldn’t take all of us, we just charged, but when we got to the top, we saw he was surrendering, as another of our teammates had come up through the back of the hill. Apparently he had taken out four other enemies before getting to the hill and forcing the last remaining opponent to surrender. I didn’t exactly do much, but I thought it was a cool match.

In the third game, we moved to another field, and we were put into the castle, which is a, well, castle shaped infrastructure, which towers a massive thirty feet (maybe even twenty five; it wasn’t that big) over the field. So, we were all positioned there, and then the enemy team came rushing in from the other end. We had to wait about thirty seconds before they were in range at all, and then everyone opened fire (on both teams). Surprisingly, hardly any of our enemies got hit, and unlike the match where they were in the castle (too pitiful to describe), they were winning. I spent a lot of time in the right tower, shooting at two people, but they were both in shacks and the odds of hitting them were little. Knowing I had no chance over there, I decided to go to the left tower, where there was no action (at the time). I constantly moved through the different towers (there were actually four), and saw I had no chance in any of them. I ended up staying in the left tower, exchanging shots with one of the last of the enemies (many of them had by now been taken out). I almost hit him, he almost hit me, but nobody got hit, until some people actually left the castle and corned him. Once again, I’d done nothing… for now.

The fifth game was on a speed ball field; it was the first time I’d ever played speed ball. Instead of in a forest, it was in a flat field with lots of inflatable, slightly oval walls to hide behind. Once the game began, I ran to the furthermost left wall, and quickly picked off one of the enemies (my second hit of the day, my first had been in the second game; sad, huh?) Then I saw an opponent run to the inflatable wall right in front of me, not more than eight feet. I hit him in the hopper, which counts as an out, and I kept yelling, “I hit your hopper!” but he couldn’t hear, and we kept exchanging hits. He hit me on the top of the head, which hurt incredibly, yet we still kept pop-shooting, and I kept yelling, “Your hopper!” and eventually he realized it, and went out. The referee came over and mentioned I’d been hit, but I said it was after the other guy had gotten out, so I kept playing. Unfortunately, by now, all my teammates were out, and somebody quickly came from the side and hit me.

The sixth game was on the same field, except we switched sides. I hit somebody early on, and then spent the rest of the game shooting at two people who were almost perpendicular. After two minutes of that, one of them hit me in the head, the other side (I’d been hit once before in the head, remember?), and that hurt a lot as well. After leaving the game, and asking somebody to check out my hair, I was told that half of my head was orange, and half was pink, and when I checked a mirror, I saw it was almost in perfect symmetry. That work of art almost made up for the two instances of brief pain.

The final game was the best of them all. Once again, the enemies had taken the castle. We all rushed on different sides, but like the original castle battle, we were held back. There were two opponents outside of the castle who were preventing us from moving as far as we could. I moved to a shack in the middle of the field, and through the window (no glass, just blank spaces), I saw a guy, opponent, standing behind a shack in what he thought was perfect cover. I fired five or six shots and took him out, and almost simultaneously, another teammate took out the other guy preventing our advance. After I found out the other guy was out, I immediately ran forward, very far. I saw an enemy at a shack very close to the castle, and I snuck up on him, pointed my gun, and said, “If you’re not on my team, surrender!” Not exactly the most dramatic of surrender statements, but it worked (I thought he might’ve been on my team, but luckily he wasn’t). I then started running, and one or two people were shooting at me, and I had to run very fast through thick mud, but I made it to a shack in the back. I then ran up the back entrance of the castle, and by then many of my teammates were there as well (but I was first there!) I came up to the top, carefully checking around corners, and saw one guy hiding in the left tower. I advanced and said, “Surrender!” and he surrendered. Then everyone else came up to the castle and started firing their guns carelessly into the air in triumph. Thankfully, none of the balls hit anyone on the way down.
